An eccentric artist, Wim Delvoye has met with great success in 1997 with his project of tattooed pigs and the development of his farm in China.
The preparatory drawings to these tattoo’s, drawn out with color pencil, provide a preview of the artist’s creative process before the execution of the final project, critical step in a constantly moving oeuvre. In an abundance of colors and details, Hello Kitty or the Tasmanian Devil from the Warner Bros cartoons meet placid Ganesha’s or ferocious skulls.
A selection of twenty drawings from the last years, adjusted and improved by the artist over the years, will so be shown at the gallery. They form the most complete ensemble of the “Tattoo’s” series.
A pig covered in oriental carpet (new series of the artist) and a very big pig skin, tattooed in China, will also illustrate this facet of Wim Delvoye’s original and surprising work.
Two other projects are planned for the artist: an exhibition at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels (20.10.2010 - 23.01.2011) devoted to his gothic oeuvre and a project with the Louvre in Paris in 2012.
